Reunions offer college mates a chance to relive fond memories, with many also turning the gatherings into opportunities to give back.
Former students of Melaka Manipal Medical College, Batch 9, celebrated their 25th reunion by organising a batik painting activity with children from Yayasan Chow Kit at the centre in Kuala Lumpur.
Project coordinator Dr Anusha Nair Gangadaran, said, “We chose batik painting because it is an activity that is both enjoyable and beneficial.
“This creative activity encourages self-expression and enhances fine skills.
“It also provides an opportunity for children between the ages of five and 15 to explore Malaysian cultural art in a fun and engaging environment.
“The children seemed to greatly enjoy the batik painting activity, which took about 90 minutes to complete.
“We guided them in colour-mixing techniques and how to create shade gradients.
“Children and adults alike had a great time participating in this activity,” she said adding that the children were also treated to a meal.
The group of doctors also contributed essential items to support the centre’s daily operations.
“Through this initiative, we hope to bring joy to the children, while also providing meaningful support to the organisation and its ongoing efforts,” she said.
