Rapid bus DRT service adds 4 new routes

Rapid Bus is adding four new routes for the Rapid KL On-Demand (DRT) service starting Feb 1.

The four routes are Taman Desa - Jalan Klang Lama (T650B), LRT Bangsar - Taman Bandaraya (T850B), MRT Putrajaya Sentral - Presint 11 (T512B), Taman Genting Setapak - Setapak (T250B).

Each route will have two vans with the exception of Taman Genting Setapak - Setapak with four vans.

The T650B (Taman Desa - Jalan Kelang Lama) and T512B (MRT Putrajaya Sentral – Precinct 11) routes will connect directly to Rapid KL's rail services.

Routes T650B (Taman Desa – Jalan Kelang Lama) and T250B (Taman Genting Setapak – Setapak) will utilise dedicated bus lanes along Jalan Kelang Lama and Jalan Genting Kelang.

Rapid Bus acting chief executive officer Ku Jamil Zakaria, in a statement, said the average waiting time was also shorter, by about 10 minutes.

"We are still maintaining the Rapid KL bus services in these areas, and the new Rapid KL On-Demand service will enhance bus accessibility with more dynamic stops," he said.

He added that Rapid Bus would also improve the nine existing routes that currently have 203 stops.

Since its launch in May 2023, the Rapid KL On-Demand service in the Klang Valley expanded to nine routes with 20 vans by August last year, recording an average daily ridership increase of 59%, from 1,271 to 2,023 passengers.

Ku Jamil added that starting Feb 1, a total of 50% of the stops on these routes would be gradually added based on the needs of the surrounding communities.
