Pickleball makes smashing debut in Ipoh with new club

Ipoh Pickleball Fun Club is open to the public.

PICKLEBALL is quickly gaining popularity in Ipoh, attracting people of all ages.

To cater to this growing interest, various pickleball clubs have emerged, including the newly formed Ipoh Pickleball Fun Club.

Club founder Lim Mun Yee believes that pickleball’s simple rules and low equipment requirements make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to start a new and exciting sport.

“Pickleball is a dynamic fusion of tennis, badminton and table tennis.

“It has seen a meteoric rise in popularity, particularly in the United States, and is now gaining traction in Malaysia,” she said, adding that various facilities for the game had emerged around the country.

“Pickleball is not just a healthy activity; it also fosters social connections and provides a fantastic way for everyone interested in new experiences to engage in a fun, competitive sport,” she said.

Lim added the launch of the club represented a significant milestone for the city, setting a new standard for sports and social activities.

The club is open to the public and based in Jalan Wan Mohd Salleh.

Booking is required via their website to use the facilities comprising five dedicated courts.

“We have had over 300 people making bookings since we opened our doors on Oct 11.

“The age of participants range between 17 and 60,” she said.
