DATUK Abd Hamid Hussain has been appointed as Klang’s second mayor, taking over from Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan, who retired on Nov 20.

His last posting was as Sepang Municipal Council president from September 2020.

The appointment was announced on the Selangor State Secretariat’s official Facebook page on Thursday (Nov 28), after Selangor state secretary Datuk Haris Kasim handed over the appointment letter and mandate to Abd Hamid during a simple ceremony at Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah earlier in the morning.

His appointment takes effect on Dec 2, 2024.

Abd Hamid, 57, holds a Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Arts from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and he has been in the civil service since 1999.

He had also served in several local authorities, including Ampang Jaya Municipal Council as council president.

Abd Hamid said he was grateful to the state government for entrusting him with the mayor’s post that would give him an opportunity of civic engagements and to be able to improve the city for the people.

“I will focus on basic services like road repairs, streetlights, waste management, landscaping and would hold more engagements with the community,” added the father of four.
