SOME 3,000 participants took part in a fun run aimed at encouraging Malaysians to adopt a healthy lifestyle while strengthening social bonds.

Organised by Koperasi Pusat Pungutan Zakat (KoPPZ), the main sponsor of the event in Kuala Lumpur was the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).

Named PTPTN Run 2024, the event took place at Dataran DBKL and featured running distances of 3km, 5km and 7km, attracting participation from children, adults and senior citizens.

As part of PTPTN’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, it was also held to show appreciation to customers.

The event started with a cycling race organised by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), that saw 200 taking part.

This was followed by the PTPTN Run 2024 flag off by the agency’s board member Datuk Ruji Ubi.

Also present were PTPTN chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid, KoPPZ deputy chairman Khairulazhar Samsudin, Higher Education Ministry deputy secretary-general Datuk Dr Megat Sany Megat Ahmad Supian and KoPPZ board member Mohd Saufiyuddin Abu Bakar.

Ahmad Dasuki said the run was a noble effort by PTPTN to promote healthier lifestyles among the public.

“Running not only benefits physical health but also contributes to emotional and mental well-being,” he said.

“I sincerely hope that this programme will contribute to the formation of healthy communities, thereby improving societal well-being and enhancing national productivity.”

The fun run was held alongside various activities, including an aerobics session, quiz, booths and a lucky draw with 10 prizes worth a total of RM10,000.

PTPTN is an agency under the Higher Education Ministry and provides funding to Malaysians pursuing higher education.
