Sinkhole on Jalan Sentul Pasar filled, road resurfaced

The road diversion along Jalan Sentul Pasar has been repaved.

ROAD upgrading works along Jalan Sentul Pasar in Kuala Lumpur will be completed as scheduled despite a sinkhole that appeared two weeks ago.

The sinkhole, which was caused by a burst sewage pipe, had left a gaping hole in the road diversion but it has since been filled.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) advisory board member Andre Lai who visited the site said contractors had to check if there were still any underground pipes leaking.

“Once the soil was found to be stable, back fill and resurfacing works were done immediately.

“Despite the minor hiccups, the project will go on as planned,” he said.

Also present during the site visit were representatives from DBKL Civil Engineering and Irrigation Department.

The road upgrading works, which started last Aug 7, would be completed on schedule in December, he said.

On April 4, StarMetro reported that residents had complained about the uneven surface of a road diversion along Jalan Sentul Pasar because of roadworks at an adjacent lane.

The sinkhole appeared at the road diversion a few days later and was repaired by DBKL-appointed contractors on April 16.

Lai urged motorists to be patient and exercise caution while using the road.

“There will be two lanes for motorists while upgrading works are being carried out in the area,” he said. ― By JAROD LIM
