THE uneven surface of a diversion for traffic to bypass road upgrades along Jalan Sentul Pasar, Kuala Lumpur, has raised the ire of locals.

Part of the road towards Batu Caves, in front of Sky Awani residence, has been closed for the upgrade, with traffic diverted to the opposite lane next to a construction site.

Residents believe construction and upgrading works have caused the road used in the diversion, to become uneven.

Sky Awani resident P. Rama-samy urged Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to order the contractor involved to repair the damaged stretch.

“The stretch has been resurfaced several times but gets damaged again after just one or two weeks.

“The road is bumpy and can potentially damage our vehicles,” he told StarMetro.

Sentul Point resident HK Too said the road was hazardous to motorists.

“Residents staying in this area know the road condition and would drive slowly, but visitors are unaware.

“The project is also taking too long to complete, causing inconvenience to motorists,” said Too.

DBKL in a media statement said the project started on Aug 7 last year and was expected to be completed by year-end.

“The work involves repairing the road foundation and the road diversion often experiences settlement due to open excavation work in the surrounding area.

“The contractor appointed by DBKL has taken progressive action by carrying out repair works as well as constant monitoring on site,” said DBKL.
