PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur will have 100 new bus stands within the next three months, says Anthony Loke.
The Transport Minister said Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) had been allocated RM1.5mil for the purpose.
"Kuala Lumpur residents have been saying that they have to wait for buses by the roadside. To solve this, we will add more bus stands," he said during the launch of Segambut Utara KTM Komuter station here on Friday (May 15).
The Segambut Utara station began operations on May 11.
Loke said the station cost RM39mil to build and was fully funded by the private sector.
"Each train can accommodate about 8,000 passengers at one time," he said.
Loke also announced that parking at the station would be free for three months in conjunction with the launch.
Segambut Utara is the 58th KTM Komuter station on the Tanjung Malim-Port Klang line, which connects passengers to several major rail integration stations such as Sungai Buloh, Kepong Sentral, Abdullah Hukum and Subang Jaya.
Also present was Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh.
Yeoh also announced a new GoKL bus route to ease travel into the city.
Route 13 will connect the Segambut Utara KTM and Jinjang MRT stations and will begin operations on June 1.
