MALAYSIAN consumers can now experience lightning-fast uncapped 5G speeds on their iPhones with Yes 5G, as YTL Communications Sdn Bhd has become Apple’s latest network partner.

The telco company officially announced this partnership during the Yes 5G: The Next Chapter launch event held at Sentul Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 2.

“Our commitment to Malaysia is ‘5G for all’ and this is about making 5G connection truly accessible for all Malaysians so that they can use technology and the internet to uplift their lives,” says YTL Communications Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Wing K. Lee.

“We believe that the internet and 5G are the most fundamental platforms for our country to move towards a digital economy where Malaysians can live, learn and play without limitations.

“Thanks to this new partnership, we are able to serve all Malaysians on our Yes 5G network, no matter what phone they own – and that finally includes iPhones as well.”

Certified by internet access and performance analytics platform Ookla as the fastest 5G internet speed in the country, Yes 5G can now offer customers Apple’s latest smartphones, including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus come with a colourful new Dynamic Island design, A16 Bionic chip, 20W USB-C and an advanced camera system including a 48MP main camera with a new 2x telephoto option.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come with a strong and lightweight titanium design, A17 Pro chip, 20W USB-C and a 48MP main camera system that enables the equivalent of seven pro lenses with incredible image quality.

Wing says that existing and new customers can enjoy a host of attractive plans from Yes 5G that offer RM0 upfront payment, affordable monthly instalments, zero interest rates, and unrestricted data and connection speeds – all at no extra cost.

In addition to these benefits, customers can now get their hands on the latest iPhone by subscribing to the Yes Infinite+ Ultra 178 postpaid plan, under contract for 36 months to get the iPhone 15 for as low as RM21 per month.

Under the same plan, customers can get the iPhone 15 Plus from RM41 per month, the iPhone 15 Pro from RM51 per month and iPhone 15 Pro Max from RM81 per month.

The telco company is able to officially support 5G connectivity for all iPhones (from iPhone 12 and above) in Malaysia, provided they are updated with the latest iOS 17.1 software and above.

Coinciding with the release of the iPhone 15 lineup, Yes 5G is giving customers the opportunity to own an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus at just RM1 during its Yes 11.11 Sale Day.

The sale also comes with a bundle of freebies worth over RM20,000, a range of Apple accessories, and a complimentary three-month Nvidia GeForce Now subscription.

In addition, the company also offers its iPhone 15 device bundle with up to 15% discount on iPhone accessories such as the MagSafe charger, charging cables, EarPods and AirPods.

The iPhone 15 lineup can now be ordered on Yes 5G’s official website, Yes stores and Yes authorised dealers.

Apart from that, customers can purchase and activate a Yes 5G eSIM via the MyYes mobile app, without having to visit a physical store.

Wing shares that Malaysia has the third fastest 5G network in the world, clocking in at 485.25 megabits per second, with local 5G coverage currently at 70.2% nationwide.

He hopes that Yes 5G will be able to “bring down the barrier” for 5G ownership in the country, not just for consumers, but for local industries as well.

“For consumers who use 5G, you get better download speeds, gaming gets better and even watching videos on YouTube gets better.

“But 5G is not just for entertainment, it is also about enabling industries, SMEs and enterprises so that they can use 5G to generate more income, improve productivity and be competitive globally,” he says.
