MORE youth clubs should be set up to connect the young to the entrepreneurial world, says Bukit Gelugor’s Barisan Nasional candidate Wong Chin Chong.
“They have little experience doing business and no access to overseas markets.
“Youth clubs, therefore, are essential as they will provide training and links to more opportunities.
“If elected, I will use my allocation to set up these clubs.
“Young people aspiring to be entrepreneurs can also get matching grants and soft loans from the government,” Wong said at his service centre in Jalan Tembaga.
Wong is in a three-cornered fight with incumbent Ramkarpal Singh of Pakatan Harapan and P. Thinagaranabhan of Perikatan Nasional for the Bukit Gelugor seat.
Wong said the last two years had seen a rise in unemployment.
“The feedback from the ground is that we are heading towards recession. More youths will need guidance and training,” he said.
Wong also said that if elected, he would set up more free daycare and tuition centres to assist the B40 group.
