WHEN the home of Wan Norliya Wan Abd Majid, 63, in Taman Sri Nanding, Hulu Langat in Selangor was submerged on Saturday night, she was filled with a sense of hopelessness and despair.

Wan Norliya and her husband were taking refuge on the balcony of their neighbour’s house as they watched floodwaters carry their furniture and home appliances away.
