EVERYTHING points to another win for Manchester United this weekend, when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford.
Three wins on the bounce have left interim manager Michael Carrick as the firm favourite to replace Ruben Amorim on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
The other three leading candidates touted for the job this week are Oliver Glasner, Gareth Southgate and Thomas Tuchel.
Should the Red Devils see off Spurs’ challenge, as expected, Carrick will only strengthen his bid and embolden the growing numbers rallying behind him in England’s northwest.
To roll over, in succession, bitter cross-town rivals Manchester City, league leaders Arsenal and then stubborn Fulham, has really got Old Trafford humming again.
And while Spurs should offer a decent amount of resistance, one feels that momentum alone could take United over the line in the early kick-off today. Leading the attack, Benjamin Sesko will be one to watch.
Perhaps complacency will be their greatest threat.
Tottenham came from two goals down against City last weekend to eke out a gutsy draw, and it is unlikely that will count for nothing.
Spurs will be pumped up for this – hence a fiery encounter looks to be on the cards. — By SHAUN ORANGE
