THE good work of Charity Food Basket Society of Klang was recognised by activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye.
He presented 14 wheelchairs to the society’s president Chew Song Kong and members.
Speaking during the handover, he said: “I decided to donate these wheelchairs in appreciation of the very good work the Charity Food Basket Society is doing to benefit those in the low-income groups, especially people who are sick and senior citizens who need wheelchairs for their mobility.
“I have visited the society on a number of occasions and found them to be a very responsible organisation.
“It is a very caring association which has devoted a lot of time and attention to helping senior citizens of all races.
“Their work was also duly recognised by The Star which awarded them the Golden Hearts Award last year.”
Lee added: “I wish to call on other Malaysians as well as corporate organisations to come forward and render help and assistance in any form to the Charity Food Basket Society of Klang.”
Chew expressed his gratitude to Lee for the generous donation.
He pledged that the wheelchairs would be put to good use to assist those in need as well as persons with limited mobility.
