Online auction aims to fuel hope among the needy

MASS Communication students of a private college in Penang are raising funds for House of Hope via an online auction.

INTI International College Penang Fuel of Faith project co-director Charissa Loh said proceeds from the sale would go to the non-profit organisation that provides food, funds and community support to marginalised communities throughout Penang.

“On July 11, we will be hosting an auction at 8pm on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/fueloffaithcampaign, where we will be selling items such as face masks, watches, coffees, tea bags, and accessories to raise funds.

“The proceeds will provide a meal priced between RM3 and RM4 for some 500 needy people under the care of House of Hope.

“We urge the public to join us at the auction so that we can all do our part to help the less fortunate,” she added.

The Fuel of Faith project is implemented in collaboration with the Leo Club of Penang (City), a youth-based NGO under Lions Clubs International.

Loh said the current movement control order had impacted the income of many families.

“It is only a matter of time before the call for help will be sounded by these households.

“In carrying out our responsibility as members of the community, the Fuel of Faith campaign plans to tackle this issue and lend a helping hand to those in need.

“As the wise saying goes, as one person I cannot change the world, but I can change the world of one person,” she said.
