MOVIEGOERS can look forward to a heart-rending production inspired by the Social Security Organisation (Socso), which will be airing in cinemas nationwide on Aug 15.

The film entitled Warkah is based on a letter written to Socso’s chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed by a teenager to express his gratitude.

“Many Socso cases involve children receiving benefits after their parents die in accidents,” said Mohammed Azman.

“The film tells the true story of a Socso recipient.

“Through this film, we hope to increase awareness that registering with Socso is important so that contributors and their dependants can enjoy benefits and have a more secure future.“

He also revealed that out of 10,000 employers checked during the recent Ops Kesan 2019, about 14% were not registered with Socso.

Directed by Opie Zami, Warkah is a tale filled with joy and sorrow. The story revolves around teenager, Ikmal (played by Wafiy), an excellent student who goes through numerous challenges when his father, Kamil (played by Namron), meets an accident and is left paralysed.

Cikgu Nur (played by Isyariana) brings new hope to Ikmal, who is caught between his family situation and furthering his studies.

The film also features five-year-old Rayyana Rayqa, who plays Kamil’s youngest child Hana.

Warkah hopes to instil the importance of creating a caring society, which will drive the country to become a developed nation.

Warkah’s official movie trailer was launched by Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran in conjunction with Sosco’s Hari Raya Open House at Menara Perkeso, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

Also present were Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Mahfuz Omar, Socso’s senior management and employees as well as the cast of Warkah.
