Maslan: Don’t depend on salaries

PONTIAN: Youths are urged to embrace entrepreneurship and not be dependent on salaried jobs.

Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister (Miti) Datuk Ahmad Maslan said Malaysians, especially the younger generation, needed to work towards becoming entrepreneurs for the betterment of the country.

“If we want to become a developed nation, we need to produce more entrepreneurs,” he said after launching the Miti and Southern Johor Regional Agencies Entreprenuers Exploration at Dataran Dato Jalok in Benut here.

He added that entrepreneurship could lead to better financial success.

Ahmad called on youths to take advantage of the RM22.2bil that the Government has allocated for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) under Budget 2018.

“The allocation will be channelled in the form of grants and loans to entrepreneurs of all races,” he added.

Ahmad said about 16,000 bumiputra entrepreneurs are expected to attend a gathering at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, on March 30 and 31.

“It will be the first time that such a large number of entrepreneurs will gather and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to address the crowd and make a special announcement at the event next Friday,” he added.
