IPC Shopping Centre in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya has officially unveiled its new look to the public following its shopping centre-wide facelift and upgrade.

The major redevelopment involving physical space, surrounding landscape and community infrastructure as well as the overall brand, cost RM200mil and took less than 10 months to complete.

With its Scandinavian-inspired interior design, the new look aims to give a homey and cosy ambience for an enjoyable shopping experience.

Fittings and embellishments in soft pastel hues of pink, blue and yellow as well as timber inclusions add to the warmth of this modern look.

The layout, including walkways and aisles, have been redesigned to provide ample space for shoppers to walk comfortably as well as move strollers and wheelchairs easily.

As this year marks IPC Shopping Centre’s 15th anniversary, a new brand logo was also introduced, symbolising the evolution of the brand and its commitment to staying relevant.

The colours blue and pink are said to reflect IPC’s personality of creating positive connection.

At the launch to unveil the shopping centre’s new look, Ikea South-East Asia shopping centre director Thomas Malmberg said they were constantly working and listening to the community to understand their woes, needs and wants.

“The local consumer market is always evolving, and we understand the importance of staying ahead and relevant in this competitive retail environment. This redevelopment is for them,” he said.

The event was attended by business associates, guests and the media, who enjoyed an energetic dance show as well as a lion dance performance.

According to IPC Shopping Centre manager Karyn Lim, the facelift was guided by five key brand attributes – convenience, caring, fun, for the many, and inspiring – to deliver great user experience.

“We want to ensure that everyone has a place or activity they can call their own; hence our motto of ‘So Much More’ than just another shopping centre,” she said.

With five retail floors, shoppers will be spoilt for choice with 145 stores of new and existing tenants, ranging from food, fashion, home and living to technology, sporting, educational, entertainment, healthcare and beauty.

The anchor tenants are Ikea, Ben’s Independent Groce (BIG) and Harvey Norman.

There are also new and improved facilities such as security, guided parking system, additional seating areas, family rooms, a designated play area called “Funland”, refurbished food court dubbed “Foodland” as well as other family-friendly features.

“One of the most significant upgrades is the centre’s accessibility.

“Two new link bridges are currently under construction between IPC, Ikea and the Curve while another is being constructed on the other side facing Surian Tower,” said Lim.

She added that they had taken a big step in sustainability as that was a significant module in their business.

“We are working towards green building standards, and Gold certification of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

“Our solar panels will contribute to energy saving by a minimum of 3% annually while our rainwater harvesting plant will supply 100% of the collected water to our landscape irrigation demand,” she highlighted.

IPC’s Recycling and Buy Back Centre has been relocated to the Level P1 carpark where shoppers can easily drive and drop off their items.

The centre also offers a buy-back of all recyclable materials sent to them.

In conjunction with Chinese New Year, IPC will have exciting giveaways and activities for shoppers including lion dance and Chinese orchestra performances as well as craft and art workshops.

With a footfall of about 15 million a year, Lim is confident that the number will increase with the newly improved IPC Shopping Centre.
