Singapore's NEA monitors air quality across central region after reports of chemical smell

SINGAPORE (Bernama): The National Environment Agency (NEA) said it is actively monitoring the air quality across Singapore's central region following public reports of a chemical smell.

In a Facebook post late on Friday, NEA said it received feedback around 11am on Friday regarding a gas or chemical smell detected across parts of Singapore's central region, including Tanjong Rhu, Kallang and Novena areas.

"We have checked the air quality onsite and have been monitoring the air quality at the nearest monitoring stations. So far, the air quality has been within the usual range.

"We will continue to monitor and investigate the source of the smell," it said on Friday.

The agency stressed that it will continue to share updates should any developments of public concern arise, while the public may report unusual smells via the myENV app or the OneService app.
