BRING out your bicycles for a fun day out in support of the autism community at Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Penang Charity Cycling 2026 on July 5.

“Pedal for a Purpose – Ride for Autism” is aimed at raising awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), while promoting healthy living, inclusivity and community engagement.

The ride will start and finish at Gurney Paragon Mall, taking in the delightful coastal scenery in a 24km loop.

All proceeds will be channelled to National Autism Society of Malaysia (Nasom) Penang and other branches.

Penang youth, sports and health committee chairman Daniel Gooi said ASD was a developmental condition that affected individuals in different ways.

“In recent years, public awareness of autism has increased and more families are seeking early diagnosis, intervention and support.

“While this is encouraging, there is still much work to be done in building a society that is fully understanding, accepting and inclusive of individuals on the autism spectrum.

“This is why initiatives like MMA Penang Charity Cycling are important,” he said at a press conference in Komtar, George Town.

“Through this event, participants will not only enjoy a ride along Penang’s beautiful coastline but also contribute to raising awareness for a cause that deserves greater attention and support,” Gooi added.

On the association’s inaugural rideout, MMA Penang chairman Datuk Dr Parmjit Singh said, “While it is not competitive, participants will receive a T‑shirt, finisher’s medal and a chance to win lucky draw prizes.”

MMA Penang Charity Cycling 2026 will flag off at 6.30am.
