Eight luxury tented camps in Asia to add to your glamping list

Basecamp Bali in Indonesia is inspired by nature. — Asia Pacific Outdoor Lodging Association

Glamping is one of the best ways to surround yourself with the wonders of nature, yet still be pampered by the luxuries of the modern world. It’s perfect for short getaways, and many of these properties are getting more creative – and luxurious.

From jungle retreats to staying near vast padi fields, the Asia Pacific Outdoor Lodging Association reveals some of the region’s most stylish outdoor accommodations.

In Cambodia, there's the Shinta Mani Wild which features luxurious tents designed by American landscape architect Bill Bensley. Overlooking a waterfall, each tent comes with a private butler.

In northern Thailand, you can find two of these luxe accommodations: Visama Explorer Nan and Tantawan Tented Camp.

Visama Explorer Nan is located in the Bo Kluea district of Nan, and has tents with private decks surrounded by lush greenery. Meanwhile, Tantawan Tented Camp is in Chiang Rai, and has hillside tents with scenic views.

Twinpalms Tented Camp in Phuket, also in Thailand, has stylish beachfront tents that are perfect for couples on a romantic getaway.

And just a short boat ride away is the 9 Hornbills Tented Camp, located in the Ko Yao district of Phang Nga. The "camp" is situated on a slope within a tropical forest, but with the seashore just minutes away.

In Indonesia, Basecamp Bali has nature-inspired villas built from eco-friendly materials.

And then there's the Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree in Singapore, which lets guests experience the rainforest and its wildlife through biophilic design.

Lastly, in China, the Vinetree Yunnan-Vietnam Railway Tented Resort celebrates railway heritage with vintage-decorated tents and retro railway-themed features.
