A FEAST for the eyes and taste buds is what most people look forward to at Christmas.

They can go on a festive gastronomical journey at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral’s Nook restaurant.

Here, the Christmas buffet dinner harmonises traditional flavours with modern twists.

Until Dec 30, every Thursday to Saturday from 6pm to 10pm, guests can experience the Festive Notes Buffet Dinner for RM148nett per person.

Menu highlights include a carving station featuring Garlic Herb Marinated Leg of Lamb, Honey-Orange Brined Whole Chicken in Salted Rosemary Crust, Herb and Peppercorn Rub Striploin with Cherry Jus, and Maple Glazed Roasted Chicken.

Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral executive chef Muhammad NorHanis Nordin said the honey-orange chicken was brined for 24 hours.

“The roast items are the highlights, and also Sarawak laksa at the live action station.”

The Gourmet Christmas Salad selection offers a variety of options such as Smoked Fish, Zucchini and Mixed Beans with Orange Dressing as well as Shaved Brussels Sprouts and Turkey Slice with Shredded Egg.

Traditional local flavours also deck the buffet line such as claypot briyani rice and ayam madu, along with hot dishes like stir-fried black pepper beef with trio capsicum, Lala omelette, and different types of dim sum.

Two dishes we found interesting and flavourful were the Beetroot Hummus and Crispy Sago Chips, and Tomato Terrine, Tofu Crumble, Pistachio Pesto and Crispy Corn Chips.

The textural elements from the chips provided a nice balance.

Desserts comprise some notables like Gingerbread Bundt Cake.

We loved this as the cake was tender without being too sweet, and it was warm and comforting with a hint of cinnamon spice.

The Persimmon Creme Brulee is also a must-try.

As far as Christmas log cakes go, Nook offers three versions in dark chocolate, raspberry and green tea.

Sweet treats also include mince pie, Christmas fruit cake, Christmas popsicle, cranberry millefeuille, Basque cheesecake, and chocolate profiteroles.

Nook’s Christmas Eve buffet dinner from 6pm to 10pm is priced at RM168nett per person.

The evening’s highlights include a festive bird live carving station.

Additionally, there is a tantalising selection of oysters and Christmas special ravioli.

It will feature a live carving station with Christmas delights such as Beef Wellington with Yorkshire Pudding, Slow-cooked Lamb Shoulder with Caramelised Shallots, Beef and Cured Turkey Lasagna, and Apricot-glazed Chicken Thigh.

The tempting dessert spread has chocolate peppermint and Christmas candy brownies, cranberry pie, strawberry fraisier, panettone, and Christmas stollen.
