BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: (Bernama-Xinhua) The Brunei government is implementing five national housing projects involving the construction of 2,596 terrace houses across the country, a government minister has said, reported Xinhua.

Speaking at the Legislative Council meeting on Wednesday, Muhammad Juanda Abdul Rashid, Brunei's minister of development, said efforts are being intensified to speed up project completion through a public-private partnership (PPP) approach.

The initiative involves consortium companies, including participation from foreign firms, aimed at enhancing efficiency and delivery timelines for the housing developments.

The minister added that engaging local investors is another key strategy to accelerate the construction of government housing projects.

Their involvement is expected to boost capacity and support faster implementation.

Muhammad Juanda noted that since 2022, a total of 1,586 houses have been awarded to eligible recipients under the national housing programme.

The national housing areas are designed with integrated community facilities, including mosques, children's playgrounds and other public amenities, to create comprehensive living environments for residents. - Bernama-Xinhua
