KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will continue to strengthen its good relations with India for mutual benefit, regional stability and more inclusive prosperity for both countries, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said the matter was discussed during a farewell courtesy call by India’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, B.N. Reddy, who will be ending his service in the country soon.
According to the Prime Minister, the meeting further strengthened the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Malaysia and India, which covers trade, digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI), food security, education and people-to-people ties.
“I also touched on the positive development in bilateral trade, which reached USD18.59bil (RM73.84bil) in 2025, maintaining India as Malaysia’s largest trading partner in South Asia,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (May 18).
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, added that cooperation in digital and emerging technologies has also shown encouraging progress through the inaugural Malaysia-India Digital Council (MIDC) meeting and the MY-India AI Conclave held in the capital recently. – Bernama
