KOTA TINGGI: The body of one of the three teenagers who went missing during a trip to Tanjung Lompat Beach here was found at 1.53pm on Thursday (Sept 3).
Tanjung Sedili zone maritime headquarters operations officer Lieutenant Commander Mohamed Shafiee Bakar said Muhammad Thaqif Rayyan Rumainoor, 16, was found floating about 800m from the location where the first victim, Alif Taqiuddin Kamal Hasrul, was found on Wednesday.
He said the victim's body was safely brought to the shore at around 2.50pm Thursday and was confirmed dead by health officials.
"The family has also been identified and confirmed that the body is that of the victim who went missing on Wednesday," he said at a press conference at the scene of the incident here.
He said the victim's body has been taken for a post-mortem at the Kota Tinggi Hospital.
He said the search for Muhammad Adib Hafiy Kamal and Mohamad Haiman Fitri Supian, both 16 years old, was ongoing, with a search radius of seven nautical miles from the northwest of the beach.
"The search with the other agencies will continue until the victim is found," he said.
On Wednesday, Kota Tinggi OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Syamsuri Mohamad was reported to have said that the body of the first victim, Alif Taqiuddin, was found about 500m from the location where he was reported missing.
Fire and Rescue Services Department announced that it received an emergency call at 8.19am regarding the incident, with six 16-year-old victims being part of a group of 15 people who had come to camp in the area for the past two days.
However, two of them were successfully rescued by the public, while the other four were missing and feared drowned. - Bernama
