KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for a thorough investigation into the accident in Temerloh that claimed the lives of four victims.

Extending his deepest condolences to the victims' families, the Prime Minister said he prayed that the souls of the deceased would be blessed and that their loved ones would be given strength and fortitude to cope with the loss.

"May God bless their souls and grant strength and fortitude to the families left behind," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Sept 1) night.

He also reminded all road users to always exercise caution, obey traffic rules and prioritise their safety and that of their families while on the road.

Four people, including three family members, were killed and three others injured in a collision involving 11 vehicles at KM110.4 of the East Coast Expressway (LPT) 1 eastbound, near the Temerloh Toll Plaza exit in Lanchang, Temerloh, at about 10pm on Monday (Aug 31).

Police have identified three of the dead as Muhammad Nazatul Nazmi and his wife, Nur Atiqah Sofiya Mohd Kazwan, both aged 32 and their four-year-old son, who were travelling in a car.

The fourth victim was SUV passenger Seow Beng Wain, 55, from Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, Selangor.

The accident involved 11 vehicles, comprising four cars, three sports utility vehicles (SUV), a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), a pick-up truck, a tanker lorry and a bus.
