TEMERLOH: Three family members who were killed in an 11-vehicle collision at KM110.3 of the East Coast Expressway (LPT) eastbound near Lanchang here on Monday (Aug 31) night are believed to have been returning from Putrajaya after celebrating National Day.
Mohd Kazwan Mohd Kassim, 59, the father of one of the victims, Nur Atiqah Sofiya, 32, said it was the first time his daughter, her husband, Muhammad Nazatul Nazmi, 32, and their son, Muhammad Armaan Nazeef, four, had celebrated National Day in Putrajaya.
He said his family received news of the accident at about 7.50am on Tuesday (Sept 1) after seeing reports of the incident on social media.
"I saw the news and a post on Facebook about the accident. I said to myself, I hope it is not my daughter because one of the cars looked like her car.
"But I never expected to receive a call confirming that it was indeed my daughter,” he told reporters at the Forensic Medical Unit of Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HoSHAS) here on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the victim’s cousin, Nur Awatif Adawiyah Abdul Aziz, 30, said Nur Atiqah Sofiya had sent photos of the National Day celebrations to the family’s WhatsApp group and also uploaded photos to her Instagram Story.
"They took several photos together as a family. We never thought these photos would become their last memories,” she said.
It is understood that funeral prayers will be held at Masjid Kampung Paya Luas here before they are laid to rest at the Setali Muslim Cemetery in Kuantan.
Earlier, the media reported that four people were killed in an accident involving 11 vehicles at KM110.3 of the LPT near Lanchang, Temerloh, last night.
Acting Pahang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said the victims were a married couple, Muhammad Nazatul Nazmi and Nur Atiqah Sofiya and their son, Muhammad Armaan Nazeef.
The other fatality was another vehicle's passenger, Seow Beng Wain, 55, from Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam, Selangor. — Bernama
