TAKEAWAY bags bearing online gambling advertisements, allegedly provided by two restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, have drawn criticism from Internet users, Sin Chew Daily reported.
Sharing photos on social media, a man claimed he bought the food, including mala soup and barbecue skewers, from separate eateries in Cheras.
The photos showed information about gambling platforms clearly displayed on a plastic bag and a thermal bag.
The man warned that children might scan the codes out of curiosity, potentially leading them to gambling websites.
He lodged a police report and filed a complaint with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
He was apparently not the first customer to raise concerns, as an online review had also flagged the advertisements.
According to a screencap of the review, the operator reportedly dismissed the matter as a packaging issue, suggesting that customers could simply discard the bags after their next purchase.
> The daily also reported that a couple who already had a son and had hoped for just one more child were stunned to learn that they were expecting triplets.
“The doctor pointed them out to us. There were so many little hands and feet on the screen.
“Both of us were stunned and could hardly believe it. Even now, it still feels like a dream,” she said.
The couple from Penang welcomed three girls on June 18, weighing 1.8kg, 1.94kg and 1.45kg respectively.
Although raising the newborns alongside their eight-year-old son would significantly increase their household expenses, the couple said the joy of having four children made it worthwhile.
“Three times the expense, four times the joy,” they said.
