KUALA LUMPUR: A chief executive officer of a fruit and vegetable wholesaling, import and export company has been detained over an alleged RM1.65mil fraud involving the purported purchase of a durian orchard.
The man, in his 50s, was arrested at about noon on Monday (Oct 26) after turning up to give a statement at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters.
Initial investigations found that the alleged offence took place in February 2024, but the purchase of the durian orchard did not materialise.
MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrest when contacted.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.
The suspect is expected to be charged at the Shah Alam Court in Selangor Tuesday (Oct 27) morning.
