PETALING JAYA: It is still no go for doubles shuttler Pearly Tan after injury ruled her out of the Malaysian Masters alongside M. Thinaah.

This is the third time that Pearly will be missing from an international tournament after suffering from back injury.

She withdrew from the Uber Cup Finals in Horsens, Denmark, last month, leaving Thinaah to form scratch partnership.

The duo also had pulled out of last week's Thailand Open.

The world No. 2 Pearly-Thinaah were absent from the test court session at the Unifi Arena in Bukit Jalil on Monday (May 18), raising questions over their participation in the tournament, starting on Tuesday (May 19).

The decision was confirmed by national doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky after discussions with women’s doubles head coach Rosman Razak regarding Pearly’s condition following her recent back injury.

“This decision was made after Rosman assessed Pearly’s condition. With three consecutive tournaments coming up, she still needs more time to recover.

“So we decided that she and Thinaah will skip the Malaysian Masters and instead focus on the Singapore Open and Indonesian Open,” said Rexy.

The pair were initially seeded top following the withdrawal of China’s Liu Shengshu-Tan Ning.

The national squad were given two hours to test the courts at the competition venue, with almost all the players taking part except for Pearly-Thinaah.
