BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Aug 14 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): One reason Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) chose to organise Study in Malaysia Education Fair here is that Malaysia is one of the most popular destinations for Bruneian parents to send their children.
This was revealed by EMGS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohd Radzlan Jalaludin during the one-day education fair in the capital.
He said the event was aimed at encouraging parents and students to choose Malaysia as their higher education destination of choice.
“This is EMGS’ first exhibition here since we began conducting these fairs across the globe in October last year when Malaysia opened its borders.”
The exhibition provided the students and their parents access to 14 top universities in Malaysia for enquiries into course programmes, fees and locations.
Mohd Radzlan said the universities were chosen due to their potentials as well as popularity among Brunei students based on the significant number of students from the Sultanate at the institutions. Other criteria included subjects Brunei students are interested in.
With the fight against COVID-19 still ongoing, the CEO assured parents that the Malaysian health system is robust and patients infected with the virus receive good medical care. He added that statistics showed that over 90 per cent of the Malaysian population are fully vaccinated and over 80 per cent have received the booster shot.
Malaysia is now offering second booster shots and COVID restrictions are being lifted by the government.
Mohd Radzlan said with the high vaccination rate, Bruneian students have the best protection while pursuing higher learning in Malaysia.
With Malaysia in the endemic phase, the outbreak is under control hence providing a safe environment for all, including international students.
“I wish to express my deepest appreciation to the Malaysian High Commission in Brunei Darussalam as well as teachers and parents for taking their time to drop by at the education fair.
“I hope the event will be an eye opener and be the best avenue for them and the students to know Malaysia and the universities well,” he said. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
