Find out if you're eligible for the Unifi Turbo Boost now.

Update: The Unifi Turbo upgrade page is currently down.

Unifi and Streamyx customers can now check if they are eligible for the free Turbo upgrade as part of Telekom Malaysia Bhd's latest effort to increase speed.

“From Aug 15 2018, you could enjoy a free speed boost on your existing subscription! Get ultra blazing speed and be among the first in Malaysia to experience this upgrade of a lifetime,” says Unifi, on its page

To check, existing Unifi and Streamyx customers need to fill out an online form with their account data, including their name, identification (like MyKad or passport or Business Registration Number) and customer ID, which can be found in the user's monthly bill.

Users will also have to click a captcha to prove they are not a robot.

Once done, users will be taken to a page that confirms their user Login ID, e-mail address, mobile number and the offer provided: in this case a speed upgrade.

If the user is eligible for the speed upgrade, a pop up window will state “Congratulations” and display the expected date for the upgrade.

A check at the writer's home address showed the expected date was between Jan and June, next year.

Unifi also lists a set of terms and conditions that come with the upgrade, including: customers need to be unlisted from TM's blacklist to enjoy the speed upgrade and the offer is subject to their technical availability.

TM assures that customers' monthly subscription fee will remain the same and carry the same terms as the previous Unifi deal

Unifi executive vice-president Imri Mokhtar had announced that broadband speed for existing Unifi Home customers will be upgraded in phases by up to 10x, starting Aug 15.

Unifi Home 20Mbps (megabits per second) or lower subscribers will be upgraded up to 100Mbps, 30Mbps plan up to 300Mbps, 50Mbps plan up to 500Mbps, and 100Mbps up to 800Mbps.

He says upgrades may take until the first quarter of 2019, as there are more than 800,000 subscribers to upgrade.

In addition to Turbo, there is the new Unifi Basic plan – which provides 30Mbps with a data cap of 60GB per month for RM79 a month – this plan is exclusive for households with an income of RM4,500 or less.

TM is also reintroducing the unlimited Unifi Mobile postpaid plan that gives unlimited data, SMS and calls for RM99 a month and without contract.

Pre-orders for Unifi Basic has already started and the Unifi Mobile offer is also available now.
