The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles might not ordinarily belong inside the DC Comics universe, but videogame Injustice 2 is making it happen anyway.
Half-shelled heroes Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michaelangelo are spinning into the DC Comics fighting game Injustice 2 courtesy of a Feb 13 add-on.
The TMNT pack features all four of the four humanoid reptiles, according to Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment.
By equipping one of the Turtles' four individual weapons – swords, bo staff, nunchucks or sais – players will be able to play as Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo or Raphael accordingly.
Each turtle comes with its own unique moves, powers, and specials.
The quartet are being distributed to owners of the Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition, Ultimate Pack, or Fighter Pack #3 from Feb 13 and will then be made available separately as a US$9.99 (RM39) purchase from Feb 20.
The awesome foursome are not naturally part of the DC Comics universe. Instead, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books are published by Mirage Studios, a privately owned company founded by co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.
Developed by NetherRealm Studios of Mortal Kombat fame, Injustice 2 released in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, with an Android and iOS edition also making its debut.
With the bulk of its heroes and villains pulled from core DC Comics properties – Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Joker and so on – most post-release additions to the character roster have also been sourced from the pages of DC's voluminous back catalogue.
Most, but not all: Sub-Zero and Raiden came in from the Mortal Kombat franchise, while Hellboy entered Injustice 2 canon courtesy of another North American publisher, Dark Horse Comics. — AFP Relaxnews
