PETALING JAYA: LBS Foundation (LBSF), the philanthropic arm of LBS Bina Group Bhd (LBS), marked a significant milestone last Thursday by launching its strategic collaboration with SK Sungei Way through Project AKAR by LBS Foundation, a key corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at empowering school communities and fostering the holistic development of students.
The event was officiated by Selangor Islamic religious affairs and cultural innovation committee chairman and Seri Setia assemblyman Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah together with members of the LBS Foundation committee led by Tan Sri Ir Dr Lim Hock San, alongside school administrators, teachers and students.
The official ceremony also featured a symbolic tree-planting session by Dr Mohammad Fahmi and Lim, witnessed by all guests, signifying a shared commitment to sustainability and the nurturing of future generations.
‘Project AKAR by LBS Foundation’, which stands for Awareness, Knowledge, Actions and Resilience, is a long-term initiative aimed at nurturing future generations through a school adoption programme.

Under the programme, LBSF will adopt one school in every three-year cycle, with each cycle centred on three key pillars: Infrastructure, Learning and Sustainability.
These focus areas are designed to enhance the school environment, enrich learning opportunities and develop sustainable practices that create lasting benefits for students and the wider school community.
For the first cycle, SK Sungei Way has been selected as the adopted school here.
Aligned with its Education pillar, LBSF plays a pivotal role in strengthening educational outcomes and promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment by working closely with school teachers to identify key areas of need, enhance student engagement and implement structured interventions that prioritise student well-being, safety and holistic development.
This year, the foundation has also supported the school by providing essential stationery and back-to-school supplies, as well as carrying out key repairs to important school infrastructure, including doors and staircase railings.
Lim, LBSF board of trustees member, said: “At LBS Foundation, we believe that meaningful change begins at the community level, especially through education.

"AKAR" which means "roots," symbolises the children who represent the foundation of our future.
“Therefore, Project AKAR reflects our commitment to nurturing young minds and creating opportunities that go beyond the classroom, ensuring that every child has the support and environment needed to thrive.”
Meanwhile, Mohammad Fahmi lauded the initiative and expressed his appreciation to LBSF, describing it as a commendable and impactful effort that would bring meaningful benefits to the wider community, particularly in strengthening education and youth development.
He highlighted that such initiatives play an important role in uplifting community well-being and fostering long-term social impact.
He also expressed hope for more fruitful collaborations between the corporate sector and educational institutions in the future.
LBSF extends its sincere appreciation to all parties involved for their dedication and support in making this initiative a success and looks forward to strengthening this collaboration for the benefit of the wider community.
