IN Malaysia’s buzzing small business scene, the real magic often happens far from corporate boardrooms.
It happens at pasar stalls before sunrise, in home kitchens turning out viral snacks and in tiny shoplots where entrepreneurs juggle everything from sales to social media on their own.
This spirit is exactly what Unifi Business SME Day 2026, under the BelanjaDiSME initiative, is designed to celebrate.
Building on its annual World SME Day efforts since 2022, the campaign continues to highlight the vital role micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) play in driving Malaysia’s economy.
Malaysian MSMEs alone account for 39.5% of Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP), represent over 96% of all business establishments across the country, and employ nearly half of the national workforce.
Against this backdrop, Unifi Business is once again encouraging Malaysians to rally behind local businesses with a simple yet powerful action: belanja local.

Buying local
Whether it’s your favourite nasi lemak stall, a neighbourhood florist, or a growing home-based brand, every ringgit spent is a vote of confidence in Malaysia’s MSMEs.
The campaign officially kicked off on June 20, at Mydin Bukit Mertajam, where the first wave of MSMEs stepped into the spotlight with a bold promise – to take their businesses further using digital tools, stronger connectivity and social-first storytelling.
But the real excitement is just getting started. All eyes now shift to Kuala Lumpur, where the campaign lands at NU Sentral on June 27 and 28.
Set right in the middle of one of the city’s busiest commuter hubs, the event is expected to turn everyday foot traffic into a live showcase of Malaysia’s entrepreneurial energy.

Through free TikTok Live sessions, selected entrepreneurs will get the chance to put their brands in front of thousands of online viewers in real time.
From product demos to live storytelling, it’s a crash course in turning attention into action. One featured session will spotlight Dr Nananda, founder of Nana’s Pani Puri, who will share how digital platforms have helped transform a humble food concept into a growing customer favourite.
On July 25, the spotlight moves to AEON Bukit Indah in Johor Baru.
Here, another group of MSMEs will step into the digital arena with the same opportunity: a free TikTok Live session led by Foodie Media owner Lim Pinn Yang, designed to amplify reach, build engagement, and drive real sales outcomes.
Creating pathways
For many small business owners, this is more than just exposure – it’s access to audiences they may never have reached, to tools they may not have resources to explore, and to a digital ecosystem that can scale their hustle across the country.
That’s the bigger promise behind Unifi Business. As a trusted digital partner serving more than 400,000 MSMEs nationwide, it goes beyond connectivity to help businesses navigate growth in an increasingly digital marketplace.
Through its nationwide network of Unifi Business consultants and the Unifi Business Club community, entrepreneurs can tap into support, insights and solutions designed to help them grow with confidence.
From reliable connectivity and mobile solutions to digital marketing support, tools like Go Bookit, and lifestyle perks such as a free 5G smartphone campaign, the aim is simple: help MSMEs stay visible, connected and competitive in a fast-moving market.
Registration for BelanjaDiSME is now open at unifi.com.my/BelanjaDiSME.MSMEs can sign up for the live sessions and unlock added perks, including exclusive World Cup merchandise.
