TO ELEVATE traveller experiences during Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), Grab Malaysia is helping travellers discover Malaysia's diverse gastronomic heritage, vibrant culture and hidden local gems through seamless access on the Grab app.

Through initiatives such as 5-Star Eats, Rakan Grab Jelajah Malaysia and the VM2026 Travel Pass, Grab is bringing together merchants, creators and partners to bring Malaysia’s many stories and experiences to local and international audiences.

“VM2026 is an opportunity to showcase the very best of Malaysia to the world, and we wanted to contribute our strengths towards this shared goal. With GrabFood and our 5-Star Eats Food Guide, we aim to make it easier for travellers and everyday users to discover and support local merchant-partners through the Grab app,” said Grab Malaysia Senior Director Rashid Shukor.

“Together with the convenience of our platform and the everyday knowledge of our driver-partners, we hope to help people experience Malaysia’s food and culture in a way that feels more accessible and authentic.

“Whether it's discovering a memorable meal, exploring a cultural landmark or planning a journey across the country, Grab can help make that experience more seamless while celebrating the people and businesses that make Malaysia unique.”

Elevating local merchants

Food is often one of the strongest drivers of travel, with visitors increasingly seeking authentic local dining experiences when choosing where to go.

Recognising the shift from traditional guidebooks to digital-first discovery, Grab is joining travellers on their journeys to uncover Malaysia's culinary landscape through 5-Star Eats, Malaysia's In-app Food Guide.

Powered by millions of authentic customer ratings and reviews nationwide, 5-Star Eats transforms customer trust into a trusted food discovery experience within the app.

The guide enables travellers to discover highly rated eateries across regions, helping them navigate Malaysia's diverse food culture while enjoying a seamless journey from discovery to dining.

At the heart of 5-Star Eats is recognition. The initiative shines a spotlight on highly rated local merchants that consistently deliver exceptional quality and service, elevating them as ambassadors of Malaysia's food heritage and must-visit culinary destinations.

By increasing visibility for these businesses, Grab empowers small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to play a more active role in the country's growing gastrotourism landscape, while strengthening local culinary ecosystems and supporting VM2026's focus on gastronomy, culture and authentic experiences.

Featured merchants include Village Park Restaurant (Petaling Jaya), Hameediyah Restaurant (Kuala Lumpur), Restoran Mat Binjai (Kuala Terengganu), Borenos Fried Chicken and A1 Chicken Rice (Kota Kinabalu).

Rakan Grab Jelajah Malaysia

Building on the success of Rakan Grab Jelajah Asean in 2025, Grab Malaysia has once again partnered with Shahril Hamdan, host of KS Lagi to launch Rakan Grab Jelajah Malaysia, a three-part content series created in support of VM2026.

The series brings together Grab driver- and delivery-partners from Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia to explore Kuala Lumpur, Terengganu and Sabah.

Along the way, they experience the traditions, attractions, local flavours and cultural experiences that make each destination distinct.

Central to the series is the recognition that Grab driver- and delivery-partners are often among the people who know their communities best.

By elevating them as culture ambassadors, Rakan Grab Jelajah Malaysia highlights how local knowledge and personal experiences can help visitors uncover stories, places and traditions that may not always be found in a travel guide.

Complementing the series, Grab has also partnered with Malaysian creator Sofyank and his team to bring Malaysia's beauty, culture and experiences across Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak to a wider audience.

Supporting these experiences is the VM2026 Travel Pass, designed to help international travellers move around the country more conveniently, alongside Grab's broader ecosystem of mobility, food delivery and digital services.

“Malaysia is special because of the diversity of experiences we offer, from our food and culture to the warmth of our people.

“Through our merchants, partners and creators, we hope more people are encouraged to discover Malaysia,” concluded Rashid.
