ACCOUNTANTS play a quiet but essential role in almost every industry – keeping businesses grounded, informed and moving in the right direction. It’s no surprise, then, that accounting continues to be a steady and fulfilling career path for many.
Taylor’s College has long been recognised as a trusted name in accounting and its Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Platinum Approved Learning Partner status establishes this reputation.
This is the highest recognition awarded by ACCA Global, for teaching excellence and student support.
With this status, Taylor’s College students gain access to ACCA’s extensive professional resources and international networks, offering valuable early insights into the profession.
But beyond world-class qualifications, Taylor’s College stands out for its mission to nurture purpose-driven individuals — preparing students to transition into successful professional careers.
Beyond the classroom
Learning at Taylor’s goes beyond books – it is also a personal, engaging experience built around every student’s growth.
Its ACCA programme stands out for its optimal class sizes, which ensure students receive individual attention from experienced lecturers. For student Puah Shu Yun, this was a major reason she chose Taylor’s College.
“The smaller class sizes created a space where I could engage more actively, ask questions freely and receive personalised feedback,” says Puah, who shares that such classes made it easier for her to identify and address gaps in her understanding of subjects.
“Another particularly helpful feature was the availability of class recordings, which allowed me to revisit complex topics and reinforce my understanding at my own pace,” she adds.
“One of my biggest challenges was adjusting to the pace and depth of the ACCA syllabus in the first semester, as I didn’t have an accounting background,” says Puah, who completed the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) as her pre-university programme.
But all that changed with her lecturers, who she describes as patient, knowledgeable and approachable — always providing constructive feedback, discussing questions in detail and showing genuine dedication to each student’s progress.
That perseverance paid off: Puah was awarded the highest mark in Malaysia for the June 2025 ACCA Financial Management paper.
ACCA is known as one of the toughest professional qualifications — and no one understands that better than Taylor’s College ACCA programme coordinator and lecturer, Joshua Lai.
Lai, who was named Malaysia’s Top ACCA Affiliate in the December 2018 examinations, believes that true learning goes beyond memorisation.
“At Taylor’s, we focus not only on helping students pass exams but also on developing their confidence and professional mindset,” says Lai.
“We encourage critical thinking, discussion and understanding how accounting principles apply in the real world,” he shares.
He adds that the close-knit learning community plays a big role in shaping students’ success.
“We also have a supportive campus environment and dedicated lecturers; this creates a learning experience that is both personal and effective — helping students feel genuinely guided throughout their ACCA journey.”
That environment extends beyond the classroom — from Taylor’s BizPod, which nurtures entrepreneurial ideas and X-Space classrooms that promote active learning, to the Student Life Centre for gaming, discussions, and taking a break in the middle of classes.
The college’s wide range of clubs and societies provides countless opportunities for students to grow their confidence, build soft skills, and explore their passions — creating a truly well-rounded college experience.
For Puah, a member of the Professional Studies Club, these aspects of campus life help her expand her network, gain knowledge, and unwind through fun activities.
“The Professional Studies Club often organises learning campaigns, such as audit workshops and accounting firm visits. These activities have helped me gain deeper insights into the accounting industry,” Puah shares.
Pathways to professional success
For aspiring students, there are multiple ways to start their ACCA journey. Students from various pre-university programmes — such as UEC, Cambridge A Level, AUSMAT Pathway, Foundation and Diploma programmes — can advance to ACCA studies at Taylor’s.
For those pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, the ACCA Accelerate Programme allows them to sit for the final four Strategic Professional papers in their third year, fast-tracking their path to becoming qualified accountants.
There are even opportunities for overseas transfers, such as Birmingham City University (UK) or Dublin Business School (Ireland), giving students a global edge.
