BANGKOK: It was a medal three years in the works for karate exponent Zakiah Adnan (pic).

After returning empty-handed from two previous SEA Games outings in Vietnam and Cambodia, Zakiah finally made her podium breakthrough, by winning the bronze medal match in the women’s kumite below 61kg.
