Thevendran, Sureeya get Malaysia’s campaign off to podium start

KARATE exponent K. Thevendran had to keep his nerves in check as he began his Asian Games campaign in the men’s kumite below 55kg category at Toyohashi Gymnasium yesterday.

That was understandably so, as the 22-year-old was making his Games debut and also carrying the burden of the Malaysian karate team to extend an outstanding record at the Asian Games.
