Aaron-Wooi Yik reach Hylo Open quarters

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik booked their spot in the Hylo Open quarter-finals after beating the Czech Republic's Jiri Kral-Ondrej Kral.

Aaron-Wooi Yik came out on top 21-14, 21-19 at the Saarlandhalle in Saarbrucken, Germany, on Thursday (Oct 30) to set up a meeting with Indonesia's world No. 11 Sabar Gutama-Moh Reza.

The world No. 2 pair narrowly defeated the Indonesians in the same stage of the French Open last week.

Meanwhile, women's doubles duo Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting also progressed after overcoming Spain's Nikol Carulla-Carmen Jimenez 25-23, 21-14.

World No. 34 Xin Yee-Carmen will next face Taiwan's world No. 18 Hsu Yin-hui-Lin Jhih-yun.
