Justin keeps Malaysia's hopes alive after Zii Jia exit

PETALING JAYA: Lee Zii Jia's Australian Open campaign ended in the first round after he lost 21-13, 24-22 to Taiwan's Lee Chia-hao on Wednesday (June 10).

The 2024 champion was unable to recreate his success in Sydney as Chia-hao proved too strong in their 46-minute match at the Quaycentre.

There was better news for fellow Malaysian Justin Hoh, who advanced to the second round after beating India's Kiran George 21-19, 14-21, 21-15.

In the mixed doubles, Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing also progressed after defeating Australia's Michael Owen-Gronya Somerville 21-17, 21-14.

Meanwhile, Loo Bing Kun-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan produced a dominant performance to beat Germany's Calvin Devereux-Desiree Toeffer 21-1, 21-3.
