Fire razes double-storey terrace house in Subang Jaya


PETALING JAYA: A double-storey terrace house in SS12, Subang Jaya, was partially destroyed in a fire on Thursday (June 4).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said firefighters received an emergency call at 3.15pm regarding the incident.

“A team from the Subang Jaya Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by personnel from the Puchong Fire and Rescue Station, was dispatched to the scene and arrived at 3.21pm.

“The fire involved the upper floor of a Class A double-storey terrace house measuring approximately 20ft by 65ft. About 50% of the upper floor was damaged,” he said in a statement on Thursday (June 4).

He said no casualties were reported.

“The fire was brought under control at 3.33pm and overhaul works are being carried out to ensure there are no remaining hotspots,” he added.

A total of 14 firefighters and officers were involved in the operation, supported by two fire rescue tenders (FRT), an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle and a water tanker.

The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
