Jacky and Jimmy-Pei Jing run out of steam at final hurdle in Vietnam

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s men’s singles player Jacky Kok (pic) picked up the silver medal in the Vietnam International Challenge 2025 after losing to Thailand’s Puritat Arree in a fierce final battle that lasted 83 minutes.

Playing at the Tay Ho District Stadium in Hanoi, the world No. 86 put up a fierce fight before succumbing to a 21-23, 21-17, 15-21 defeat.

The defeat ended Jacky’s winning record over his opponent after having recorded two wins in their previous meetings.

Also following in his footsteps was the country’s professional mixed doubles pair Jimmy Wong-Lai Pei Jing who lost to Hong Kong’s Tang Chun Man-Ng Tsz Yau, 19-21, 19-21.

Despite being runners-up, Jimmy-Pei Jing deserve praise after making it to the final in their first tournament as a pair.

Pei Jing is now trying to adjust to a new partnership after her teammate Tan Kian Meng announced his retirement earlier this year.
