Supervision, self-control crucial in online gaming

I’M writing in response to the recent incident involving the Roblox rage between two brothers in Batu Pahat, Johor (“Roblox rage blamed for slashing”, The Star, Oct 30; online at bit.ly/ 4oWJTSM). The incident struck close to home as I am also raising children around their age (nine and six).

As a parent, I believe that the cons far outweigh the pros when children play online games. Children at this age have little self-control when it comes to online gaming as it tends to be addictive. They cannot foresee the consequences of their actions, and that is why parental supervision is vital.
