The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said a letter dated July 17, 2026, stating that Cabinet approval has been given for a proposed Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project to widen the North-South Expressway (PLUS) is fake.
In a statement on Thursday (Sept 17), the PMO said that the Prime Minister had never issued or signed the letter and denied any connection with the document or the purported approval, reported Bernama.
"PMO has lodged a police report over the forgery of the document and the misuse of the Prime Minister's name and PMO's official identity.
"Appropriate legal action will be taken against any party found to be involved," it added.
PMO therefore advised the public not to be deceived by, circulate, or share the fake document.
