Did a fire really break out after an accident there?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director John Sagun Francis said firemen conducted an initial size-up upon arrival at the scene while equipped with full personal protective equipment (PPE).

He said the blaze, which involved three of the five vehicles, was brought under control by 7.33am and extinguished by 8.16am.

No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, he added.

"Firefighters carried out a direct attack method to contain and extinguish the fire," he said, adding that overhaul works were then carried out to ensure there were no remaining fire hazards.

The matter was then handed over to the Fire Investigation Unit (FIO) for further action, he said.

The cause of the accident and fire has yet to be determined.
