CONVOYS are usually very enjoyable when you are travelling from one point to another with other like-minded individuals.
However, the authorities have stressed numerous times that "Marshals" without police have no authority to control traffic flow, especially to make way for their own convoy.
Recently, a video of two supercars holding up traffic at a roundabout in Johor so that a convoy of supercars can pass through went viral on social media.
But did it really happen as the video suggests?

The short video claimed that the incident took place on Friday (Aug 14) during the rush hour when people are making their way home from work.
Asking "can they do this?", the video garnered thousands of views and shares on Threads.
Police arrested two car drivers believed to have acted as “marshals” by stopping public vehicles to make way for a luxury car convoy at the Iskandar City Boulevard roundabout in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, have been arrested.
Iskandar Puteri deputy OCPD Supt Saifullah Jaya @ Yahaya said the two men, aged 65 and 54, were arrested on Saturday (Aug 15) along with the cars used, to assist investigations under Section 110 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He said the incident came to light after a video showing the two drivers stopping vehicles at the roundabout to allow a supercar convoy through went viral on social media platform Threads at about 6.16pm on Friday (Aug 14).
“Acting on public complaints, the Iskandar Puteri district Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division conducted an operation to trace the two drivers.
“Investigations found that the supercar convoy was travelling from Puteri Harbour towards Johor Baru city centre, and the two drivers had acted as ‘marshals’ by stopping vehicles at the scene to make way for the convoy,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
Supt Saifullah said police also issued four summonses for various offences related to non-compliance with prescribed vehicle specifications, while the vehicles involved were seized.
He said police would not compromise with any individual acting as an unauthorised convoy escort by obstructing traffic or illegally stopping public vehicles.
“Such actions clearly endanger both the individuals involved and other road users,” he said. — Bernama
