It was recently claimed that the Hospital Ampang ceiling collapsed following heavy rain, causing water to pour through “like a waterfall”.
Did this really happen?
VERDICT:

True
Videos allegedly showing a collapsed ceiling and subsequent flooding inside Hospital Ampang went viral on Tuesday (April 28), raising concerns over the condition and preparedness of public healthcare facilities.
Clips circulating on social media show water pouring through the ceiling in a hallway and what is believed to be an operating hall as staff scramble to move equipment to safety.
An X user, @localrkyt, claimed the incident involved a collapsed ceiling in an operating hall, alongside disruptions to the hospital’s IT and patient data systems, forcing staff to revert to manual processes and causing longer waiting times.

“The video shows the ceiling in the operating hall collapsing, turning into a waterfall… The IT system and patient data storage are down,” the user wrote, while expressing support for hospital staff.
Separate posts on Facebook also alleged that heavy rain had led to serious leaks, with claims that medical equipment, including a CT scan machine, may have been affected.
“It’s not AI, it’s real. The hospital building is flooding. Those who are due to give birth, please redirect your delivery plans to alternative hospitals,” another user wrote.
Meanwhile, Facebook user Yusnita Poppyta claimed that heavy rain the previous day caused serious leaks at the hospital.
“It is understood that many medical devices, including a CT scan machine, were affected. Those with upcoming appointments may want to check their status before coming,” she said.
The incident has triggered public concern over maintenance standards and the readiness of healthcare infrastructure, especially in critical facilities expected to operate under all conditions.
As of press time, there has been no official statement from the Health Ministry regarding the incident.
