UNIVERSITY campuses should be safe spaces for students going about their daily lives, not places where they have to worry about encountering indecent behaviour on the way through the gate.

But an incident near the entrance of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Dungun, Terengganu has left the community shaken, with a video of the incident going viral on social media.

Did a man really expose himself near the UiTM Dungun campus entrance?

Verdict:

An unidentified man on a motorcycle committed an act of gross indecency against a victim near the entrance of UiTM Dungun in Terengganu at around 12.30pm on Saturday (April 25), before fleeing the scene.

Dungun acting OCPD Dept Supt Jumaidy Bah Chong Weh said police had also detected a viral video believed to be related to the same incident, and that efforts to locate witnesses and identify the individual involved were actively ongoing.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code.

"The police view this incident seriously and will take firm action against any immoral behaviour that disturbs public safety," he said in a statement on Sunday (April 26).

Members of the public with information are urged to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting the Dungun District Police Headquarters or the nearest police station.
