A SHOCKING video that went viral on social media shows a man driving a car whilst brandishing what appears to be a machete at another driver.

The footage, which has sparked concern amongst the public, captured the driver making an offensive gesture when he realised he was being filmed.

But did this threatening incident really happen in Ipoh?

A machete-wielding man made an offensive gesture in a viral video showing an incident suspected to have occurred in Pekan Baru, Ipoh.

In the viral video, a man who was driving a car was seen holding a machete. Seeing someone was taking video of him, he showed his middle finger before driving off.

Initial investigations found that the incident took place on Jan 15, but the video was only uploaded on Feb 5.

Although the machete was not used to threaten anyone, the act had caused public unease. The driver was also seen showing his middle finger at someone who reprimanded him.

So far, no reports have been lodged by the public following the viral video.
