QuickCheck: Are there more than 10,000 haj slots available for pilgrims this year?

CLAIMS have gone viral on social media suggesting that thousands of haj pilgrimage slots remain unfilled for the 2026 season.

The allegations, which spread rapidly across various platforms, stated that approximately 10,000 appeal slots were available for Malaysians wishing to perform the pilgrimage this year.

But are there really more than 10,000 haj slots available for pilgrims this year?

Verdict:

FALSE

Tabung Haji has denied claims circulating on social media alleging that approximately 10,000 appeal slots are available for those wishing to perform the haj pilgrimage for the 2026 season.

In a post on it's FaceBook page, the pilgrims' fund board said Malaysia's entire haj quota has been filled and is in the final phase of the haj offer process, which is being implemented according to established procedures and criteria.

In view of this, the public has been advised not to easily believe or spread unverified information.

Official information related to haj matters will only be issued through Tabung Haji's official channels, the board said.
